Tourette’s is a condition that may impact you or your child emotionally, socially and physically. A new clinical research study is available that may reduce the frequency and severity of motor and vocal tics commonly associated with Tourette’s. This research study is evaluating once-weekly Aripiprazole (also known as Abilify®). The use of Aripiprazole (Abilify) is investigational in the treatment of Tourette's Disorder in children and adolescents. An investigational drug is a drug that is being studied for approval by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or the European Medicinal Agency (EMA) or other regulatory agencies in other countries. Aripiprazole (Abilify®) has been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and European Medicines Agency (EMA) to treat other conditions. In this research study, participants will be randomly assigned to receive either study drug or placebo (inactive substance) so there is the possibility that you or your child would not be receiving study drug. However, study participants who complete a placebo-controlled study may be eligible to enter an open-label safety study where all participants will receive the active study medication (Aripiprazole). Study-related tests and study drug will be provided to the study participants at no charge.
